For wannabe singers in Malaysia, they have “Malaysian Idol”, “One in a million”, “Akademi Fantasia” or “Mentor”…for the dancers, they have “So You Think You Can Dance”…So what do we have for the wannabe DJ?
Astro Hitz Spin Master 2, back for the second year! Being the only televised DJ competition, Astro Hitz Spin Master (www.facebook.com/astrohitz) was created to provide individuals interest in propelling their DJ careers.
This competition pitches the current generation of aspiring DJs against each other and offers them not a valuable platform to showcase their talent. Contestants will gain priceless memories, and be catapulted steps ahead in the industry.
Auditions will take place at the Official Venue, Zouk Club, Kuala Lumpur on 15 and 16
May 2011. After the auditions, clips of the contestants spinning will be placed on Youtube for viewers to vote.
Aspiring DJs, head up to Zouk Club, KL on 15 and 16 May. Show to the judges your unique way of spinning! Impress them!
Only the Top 16 will make it to the second round, Top 8 to 3rd round, Top 4 to the 4th round and the Final. The top sixteen (16) finalists (8 chosen by the judges, and 8 more via online votes) will then go into the next round for more voting action and battles.
The encouraging response from the first season, and the quality of 2010 Champion, DJ Reeve proved the success of the Astro Hitz Spin Master format. DJ Reeve has gone on to be one of Malaysia most sought after DJs.
Another finalist last year, DJ Faith, has been selected as the only Malaysian female DJ to tour with the Johnnie Walker Black Circuit 2011 amongst her many achievements to date.
The launch, hosted by Joey G, showcased DJ judges, Blink, Goldfish and Gabriel,
previous Spin Master champion DJ Reeve, and Cheong Cheng-Vei, Channel Manager of Astro Hitz discussing their experiences from the previous year, and excitedly anticipating the season to come.
The grand prize of Astro Hitz Spin Master 2 was revealed: the champion wins an all-expense paid trip to London to spin a personal slot at the prestigious “Gallery” at the Ministry of Sound London. I repeat, winner will have a personal slot of around 30 minutes at MOS London, not MOS Sunway!
Gavyn Mytchel, the resident DJ at the "Gallery" is happy to support the show with this partnership and is looking forward to introduce the new champion to the spoilt-by-the-best London crowds.

Can i send own recording demo submission instead going for the audition?
Anonymous: you have to attend the audition, because the judges want to see how well is your DJ-ing skill. Sending them the recording demo shows only your recording skill. Just drop by at ZOUK and have fun spinning!
